Wedding! Part Two

We walked through the gorgeously verdant countryside for about a mile, before coming to a temple complex overlooking a little river.

The groom rang the bell.

In the background...

The groom and his mother lit incense at the base of a tree and then wrapped brightly-colored strings around it, as they walked in circles, again and again, a dozen times. A few female relatives joined in.

Next they entered a little shrine, where a holy man blessed them.

The mother laid out flowers and poured a libation to the divinities.

Someone thought I needed a little more color to fit in!

After an hour or so, the party returned to Little Flower. Once again, I was awed by all the bright hues.

Mother and son, attached for the final time.

Later I learned that this was not the actual wedding (one clue = no bride), but one of the preliminary festivities.

  1. We all laughed at "one clue = no bride"!
We too are amazed at the beautiful bright colors and everything looks so clean and tidy in such trying circumstances.
Amazed again and again at the beautiful teeth. On the photos, when someone does not have gorgeous teeth, it stands out as the exception!
Love that you are able to make progress in living conditions. Even electricity. With all the humidity, is mold/mildew an issue?
