The children and teachers gather each morning at 8 am for morning assembly, as is the custom in India. They pray, chant the national anthem, sing a few songs, and recite some poems. The order and content vary a little from day to day.
The principal may make an announcement or two.
It brings a great rhythm to the beginning of the school day.
The group looks a bit ragtag because the newly-admitted students don't have their uniforms yet. And some of the older students have worn theirs to shreds. The school year runs from early April to late March, so we are now two months into the new year.
The tailor has been making the rounds, measuring the children for new uniforms.

All great photos! My favorite has to be the tailor with the children. I was wondering about the clothing and uniforms. Who pays for all that? The material? The tailor's fees? Where does their general clothing come from? And shoes? And underclothing?
